Recycled Cedar Dock Wood Bowls
Jim has been recycling old dock wood for more than two decades. While most of the dock wood that he collects is used for chargers, the weathered, deeply grooved wood is saved for his bowls. He gets most of his wood from Georgian Bay but has also used wood from Haliburton and Muskoka.
When asked how he acquires the dock wood he jokingly says, "I check out the area for old, rotten and beautifully weather-worn docks then wait for a moonless night". In reality, he advertises that he is looking for old wood and will pay for it with one of his beautiful bowls made from the donor's own dock.

A Selection of Dock Wood Bowls
Are you replacing an old dock?
Jim is always looking for more dock wood. He doesn't like to drive too far afield as that can get quite costly with today's gas prices. His preference is for wood from Georgian Bay, primarily in the Pointe au Baril area. However, please contact Jim and discuss the possibilities with him.
Would you like to commission a piece using your dock wood?
Jim only works with cedar dock wood. Some docks in the '90s were made with pressure treated wood. This wood has toxic material in it and is unsuitable for wood turning. Contact Jim for further information and pricing.
